How does authentic photography succeed?

For individual and tasteful family photos I use some photographic wisdom, which concerns for example the arrangement of the people in the picture. I always pay attention to the necessary looseness, so that everyone feels comfortable.

When arranging several people in a picture, the heads should form a triangle; positioned next to each other creates a monotonous impression.
If the tip of the triangle points upward, a more vivid photo is created. I achieve even more dynamics with an oblique triangle.
The best family photos are taken in indirect daylight with little stray light.
Trust and time are my most important ingredients for successful family photos with children. Photo series help to shoot the optimal photo despite short attention span.

References

Unposed natural images

For natural, unposed and authentic photo series, it is recommended to develop a suitable image concept before the photo shoot. For this I like to use unusual positions and exposure techniques.

Families have just as many unique selling points as companies, which I skillfully bring out with empathy and humor.

Camera equipment

I own a versatile, uncomplicated equipment with various lenses that are used depending on the light and location.

With the Canon D Mark 4 medium format camera, I can deliver good images even in low light and high ISO values.
I mostly use fast zoom lenses (24 to 150 mm at apertures from 1.4), fixed focal lengths and high focal lengths of 300 mm for sports or events.
Tripods ensure clear images at slow shutter speeds.

Flash for bright shots

I provide the necessary light with system flashes. The flash systems are synchronized with each other and trigger synchronously. Flash is not only suitable for dark environments. As a photographer, I also use it to brighten up subjects during the day. I emphasize elements through the interaction with the background.

I use reflectors to create a soft flash light, which gives very good effects in portrait shots.
In daylight, I set the flash reflector to a narrow beam angle.
In strong darkness indoors or at night, the traveling flash with slow shutter speed is used.

Product photos for industry

It is not uncommon for companies in the industrial sector to request photos of production processes or individual products. I pay attention to high-quality product photos: These are based next to the right light, which should also allow later cropping of the images.

What I look for on location at the shoot:

If surfaces are shiny, I wear white gloves: these prevent unsightly fingerprints.
Sometimes products need to be placed higher: Adhesive Plasticine is suitable for fixing objects and brighteners slightly higher.
There should be no foreign brands in the field of vision, especially when I am photographing for advertising.
A tidy environment without distracting elements makes photography more believable.

A good photo - I am convinced - is one that you look at for more than a second, even longer than 10 seconds.
